Synopsis

Episode I, The Phantom Menace:

Jedi knight Qui-Gon and his apprentice Obi-Wan protect Queen Amidala and her planet from a hostile takeover, and in the process meet a young boy named Anakin with high Jedi potential.

Episode II, Attack of the Clones:

Jedi knight Obi-Wan and his apprentice Anakin protect Padme Amidala once again, and solve a series of mysteries.

Episode III, Revenge of the Sith:

Afraid of losing his wife Padme and their unborn child, Anakin is seduced to the Dark Side by Emperor Palpatine, meaning ruin for the Jedi Order.

Episode IV, A New Hope:

Tatooine boy Luke begins his training as a Jedi, and is aided by scoundrel Han Solo, his Wookie companion Chewbacca, and a rescued princess Leia as they attempt to bring down the Death Star and fight back against Darth Vader and the Empire.

Episode V, The Empire Strikes Back:

While continuing his Jedi training, Luke confronts Darth Vader and learns about his past (that Darth Vader is his father Anakin and that the princess Leia is Luke's long-lost twin sister separated at birth).

Episode VI, Return of the Jedi:

Luke, Han, and Leia make one final and ultimately successful attempt to destroy the Empire, as Luke continues to confront his father Darth Vader.

Review

Revolutionary for it's time. One of the biggest franchises ever. It is a little confusing, the sequence and order of the movies. The first released was Episode IV: A New Hope in 1977. It was originally just called Star Wars and then it was decided to make sequels so Episode V and Episode VI were made in 1980 and 1983. Then in 1999, they decided to revisit the franchise and make Episodes I, II, and III in 1999, 2002, and 2005 that were the prequels and explain the origins of the characters we had already known.
